Hello bright souls of Sagittarius! Hail fellow well met, natives of beneficent Jupiter!
I am counting us all in this greeting, because as long as the Sun is transiting Sagittarius we are all the children of Fire, at least temporarily. Let's enjoy the heat, the stimulation, and the excitement of the moment! Now that Fire has taken over from Water, we can use the baptism we achieved in our deep gut feelings to now assert our individual portion of Divine Will.
This is the month of clarification as we follow through with the tasks of the Dry Way of Detachment (the arc from Leo to Capricorn). We have squeaked through the steamy sauna of Scorpio, when the dross of our leftover past identifications was smelted out through our psychic pores. Now we are pouring out that which remains -- the molten alchemical metals -- in order to mint spiritual 'coins' made to the specifications of the Seven Planetary Governors. This coinage represents the lessons we have learned at the hands of the Planets and Signs during this past year.
The final month of the Alchemical cycle, starting at the Winter Solstice (Dec 21) and ending at the cusp of Aquarius (January 21st) creates the conditions for a rebirth of our visions and dreams as we re-engage with the Wheel of Fortune (AKA the Wheel of Time). In Capricorn the seeds of the past lie buried in fallen leaves and branches, quietly composting and gestating in the womb of Nature. At the hand-off between Saturn as ruler of Capricorn, and Saturn as ruler of Aquarius, the planetary life-wave releases the past and begins to surge towards the future. Like the crowned individual at the top of the Wheel, in Aquarius the soul can see its entire pattern in time, both coming and going. Poised at the high point of the year, the soul momentarily possesses objectivity, through witnessing an overview of its karmic cycle of effort and accomplishment.
Of course, this far-sighted vista of expanded perspective only lasts a little while. Once the wheel begins to turn, the soul is plunged down into the world of time and space again, to be swept around all willy-nilly in the mixed-up currents of life. Our personal drama begins again as we wrestle with the forces of fate and destiny, action and reaction, love and hate, including all the other opposites that riddle our world with ambiguity.
So what does this mean in terms of collective events? The western or Tropical astrologers I watch are riveted on the repeating squares that have been hammering away between the cardinal signs of Capricorn and Aries. Pluto, the planet of institutional structures that transcend nationalities and cultures, has been ever so slowly burning his way through Capricorn, the sign of "ultimate results", where the karmas we created in the past await re-balancing via the circumstances of the incoming future. As we wait and gestate, Uranus, the unpredictable genius of lightning-bolt swiftness, is chewing up the landscape of the cardinal sign of Aries. Could this be the sunsetting by devaluation of the traditional international currencies, in the face of the meteoric rise of BitCoin and other unbanked crypto-currencies?
Some say the Plutocrats of this world have been working for the entirety of the last century to create the psychological, financial and cultural bottleneck that we are currently experiencing. They have set up a series of tollbooths all through our lives, to the point where we can't make a move without conforming to the pre-set paths they have embedded within their matrix. This is the way I interpret Pluto in Capricorn as the end of the old era, the stored fruits of the past cycle.
But in the present era, with Uranus transiting the matching degrees of Aries, Pluto has a worthy adversary. As a matter of fact, every time these titans engage, more energy is siphoned away from Pluto, energy that accelerates Uranus in his revolutionary agenda of restoring self-sovereignty, dignity and freedom of choice to the grass-roots individual. Pluto thinks he's got a lock on the fruits of the whole world's labors as he commandeers Capricorn's castle with its' treasure tower, root cellar, granaries, wine-casks, herds, orchards and full barns. But thrillingly, we are seeing that Uranian forces in human consciousness are finding back doors and work-arounds that encourage more people every month to opt out of Pluto's all-encompassing grip. A fortuitous coincidence over last weekend made the following interview available to me. The topic is "Who and what are the Peasants?" This conversation offers a meditation on what it means to be part of the 95% who don't participate in the top of the wealth pyramid, and the threat that we are up against in the face of corporate ambition, which Ross Scholes calls the "neo-liberal project". The venue is a radio show from New Zealand; host Peter Daley is an Australian environmental whistleblower who hosts various guests from week to week. Daley and Scholes are two men from my own generation, but I don't find them redundant to listen to because of how well they have kept up with current themes and issues. I totally identify with being a micro high-tech peasant who is farming as an artist! Don't miss the post that accompanies the radio show, as all the mentioned links are there. Follow the link below and then scroll down to Daly's September 5th interview:http://www.greenplanetfm.com/members/greenradio/blog/VIEW/00000001/00000261/Peter-Daley-Australian-Whistleblower-on-the-Fukushima-Radiation-Crises#00000261
Think I'm exaggerating? Here's a head's up: The 10 Corporations That Control Almost Everything You Buy; http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-11-24/10-corporations-control-almost-everything-you-buy. Or how about this? http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2013-11-25/fact-or-fiction-hunger-games. Once we include the whole human race instead of just looking around in our own self-similar neighborhood, these fictional portrayals stop being entertaining and start being signifiers for our current state of collective distraction.
This time of fall-into-winter in the Northern hemisphere, with its low temperatures and long nights, offers us a respite from the high times of summer when the nights are balmy and everything seems theoretically possible. Attention swings away from the lazy hours and low-hanging fruits of the warm season, because now we have to face the slower, deeper, more permanent cycles that play in the background of our usual magpie attention-spans. Jupiter, the ruler of Sagittarius and Pisces, has a 12-year cycle, spending a year in each sign. Saturn has a 28-year cycle, spending about 2 1/2 year in each sign. Hence, whatever we envision or begin under their opposition will require a lot of patience and repetition to finally bring to completion.

And now let me wish my readers an excellent return of the Light at Winter Solstice, and may your holiday enjoyments ring the old year to a close, opening a brand new realm of opportunity for 2014. I don't know about you, but I'm thrilled to be rolling forward for another year, ready to take on this grand adventure from a point of greater maturity, whatever may come. It's a pleasure and a priveledge to share this life with you!
Blessings,
