One of my goals with this Arkletter and my website is to make available
a number of resources for the Tarot student who has the capacity to
self-educate. I want this site to grow into an enriched environment
where Tarot students of all levels can find sustenance for further
expansion. Nothing would be more pleasing to me than to offer a
comprehensive introduction to Tarot for the growing worldwide tide of
users.
When I was new to the Tarot (the 1970's), there were not the deep
bookstore stacks, copious Tarot decks, and wall-to-wall readers that
abound nowadays. Teachers were so difficult to find that some people
had to do without them entirely. Anybody who wanted to gain skill with
their cards had to be an archaeologist, digging the crumbs of gold out
of the few books that were in print or stood on the used bookstore
shelves.
Having contributed to the reversal of that trend myself, I realize how
different the landscape is for modern students compared to those of who
who started long, long ago, when resources were spare and the choices
few. Now it is a matter of wading through dizzying riches in a
veritable Tarot cornucopia! To clear the decks a little (so to speak!),
I have put together a listing of books, webpages, Tarots and tools
that should help the new user get their bearings. Please feel free to
respond with reviews, favorites, and links we can add to the
collection.
Blessings,
Christine
